PLANTING SEEDS OF PEACE

Stewards of the Earth, Stewards of Each Other, Stewards of Peace was the theme of the 9th annual INTERFAITH WALK FOR PEACE AND RECONCILIATION.
On Sunday, April 29th 2012 several hundred people participated in a Walking Dialogue among Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, and Others.
In what has become a landmark humanitarian event, empowered by the spirituality and vision of people of faith, walls of madness, greed and bigotry that divide members of the human family from other children of God are being torn down.
(View a Peacewalk Slideshow.)
Thanks are extended to everyone who participated in the walk, sent prayers and helped out along the way.
Please visit the INTERFAITH WALK FOR PEACE AND RECONCILIATION Web Site and give your feedback.
It will help in plans for future walks!

PRESS RELEASE
National Action Network to Rally with High School Students and Parents
Against Beating and Abuse of Students by School District Police
Philadelphia, PA (December 11, 2009)The Philadelphia Chapter of the National Action Network at the request of students and parents will lead a Rally in protest of the brutal beating of public school students by school district police. Confirmed school police involvement in the egregious civil rights violation of the students at Frankford, Olney and Northeast High Schools has been confirmed and it alleged to be a reoccurring problem that has been ignored by the brass of the district.
Consequently, at the request of parents from each of these schools the National Action Network has initiated an investigation into the brutal beating of Frankford High student, Jeffione Thomas, the denial of classroom education since November 4th, 2009 of Northeast High student, Evelyn Cruel and a host of Olney High School students regarding the "boxing glove
beating" of students by a school District Police officer known as "Sarge". This man takes students into a closed room where he brutally beats them with boxing gloves on to protect his hands from the evidence of the applied
beatings of students. "The School District is out of control, who is protecting our children"?
The Rally will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Frankford High School, 5000 Oxford Avenue at 3:00 PM. National Action Network has sent a Letter to School Superintendent, Dr. Arlene Ackerman requesting for a private investigator be retained to interview student and faculty witnesses regarding the incidents. Greg Brinkley, President of Philly NAN stated, "We want these police officers immediately removed from any further contact with all school district children. Further, we will be seeking the Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Abuse Division to conduct an official
investigation of these incidents for possible abuse of school children by school police."
Philadelphia National Action Network is dedicated to fighting injustice wherever its ugly head surfaces, in Philadelphia it is the protection of school children.
